CREATING COMMERCIALS
Ages 18-29
Fall 2021, Online
In this distance learning workshop, student fellows will begin to build the professional skills necessary to create short, eye-catching commercials for social media. They’ll consider the ins and outs of working with clients, and how to identify and appeal to a target audience. They’ll learn to conceptualize an idea from start to finish using storyboards and treatments; and to develop the imagery that captures the consumer's attention and entices them to learn more. For inspiration, students will re-examine and share their own favorite commercials, analyzing what makes them work. With live action, animation, voice over, sound effects, and music, fellows will create commercials for the Baltimore Youth Film Arts Program, as well as personal commercials for family or friends. They’ll sharpen critical thinking and collaborative work skills, and their commercials will be shared on Instagram, the program website, and through a virtual exhibition. Limited to 8 student fellows.
