SAVED BY ART
Ages 18-29
Winter 2021, Online
In this distance learning videography workshop, fellows will share personal stories of how engaging with art as creator or consumer has kept them centered and well during these challenging times. They might consider a range of forms, including literary, visual, performing, cinematic, even culinary arts. Each fellow will make a short film sharing or modeling their chosen form, exploring how art can affirm identity, offer solace, speak back to injustice, and create order in a disordered world. The films might document their experiences, but will themselves also be works of art, expressive of the fellows' own inner lives and personal journeys. They’ll learn the basics of videography, including shot composition, audio recording, and editing; and they’ll refine critical thinking and storytelling skills. Their work will be shared on the program website and through a virtual exhibition. Limited to 10 student fellows.
