MARC CRUISE
My experience with the workshop was very interesting. It challenged me to take photos of specific topics and genres and I found that interesting. None of my previous workshops have forced me to take photos of any one specific topic and though that was challenging for me I appreciated it. I definitely loved this workshop and I wish I could do more like it.

As a new photographer, the workshop was very challenging for me. Especially because of the current Pandemic, it's hard to find inspiration in the world both mentally and physically.
With a new theme each week, it forced me to step out of my comfort zone to portray different feelings and motives that I wouldn't normally consider. I definitely enjoyed myself and am looking forward to learning more about photography.

During these unprecedented times it's important to highlight beauty in the world, especially in art.
What I wanted to accomplish during each theme in the workshop was a strong emphasis on emotion.
I wanted the viewer to feel as if they were in the location taking the images themselves.

This pandemic has impacted how all photographers do their work—for better or for worse. Personally, I was incredibly uninspired in the first few weeks. I would go on walks and shoot whatever was interesting, but that’s less of an art form and more of aimless tourism. So to do this workshop that has a strong focus on being intentional with every shot really revitalized my work. Admittedly, I wasn’t always inspired by the challenge and I think that’s reflected in some of the deleted photos, but others reflect that spirit of intentionally seeking meaning and connection even in the mundane reality of quarantine.

My photos are about different subject areas that have been impacted since COVID. People don’t notice certain things about their life until it’s gone. My photos demonstrate the wild differences to everyday things being affected by COVID and how we adapted to it.
